Wood damage or decay

Some new lumber had been installed around these areas. I’m not a WDI inspector - pest damage or decay?

Termite damage.

The damage goes with the grain of the wood.
Subterranean Termites are lazy & do not go against the grain.
Note the mud they brought with them from the soil.
Excellent example.

Thanks @mgoldenberg @bcawhern1 @srechkin @lkage and @wforrest for the help!

The termites are probably better at posting photos to the forum too! :joy:

I was the one struggling to post the photos, so the joke is literally on me! Gotta be able to laugh when technology is eating your lunch.

I always appreciate the experience and expertise of everyone who offers their time to help on the forum. I’ve learned so much over the years from just the handful of people who responded, and tons more from plenty of others.
