Your First Inspection

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting. What was is like on your first inspection. What was that first phone call like, how did you handle it. Could you have done anything differently or said more or said less. What was the actual inspection like emotionally, etc. After the first 1 or 2 inspections did you change your reporting method or style? Talk about your inspection methodology then versus now. Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently if you could do that first inspection over again today. Thanks.

Todd,

My best advise for a fast education would be to search past posts on
"first inspections". A lot of good advice already in there and some of it won't be repeated.

Don't let real clients be your first inspection. They'll know it.

Do some dry runs on friends and family so you have your spiel down pat.

We all change the style and reporting as we grow in experience.

As far as the first phone call you get asking "How much do you charge?' DON"T give a price right away. They'll hang up and go on down their list. Most buyers know very little about home inspections. Start your response by asking them about the house, how big, where is it (get them talking) Explain to them what you do, how you report it, LAST tell them your price.

Search the board, lots of info there.
