This GE and Hotpoint dishwasher voluntary recall was just announced today (Thursday); includes machines sold from March 2006 to August 2009 for $350 to $850.

Owners of the impacted dishwashers are advised to stop using them and turn off the fuse or circuit breaker to the machines.

“GE is aware of 15 reports of dishwasher heating element failures, seven of which resulted in fire and smoke damage beyond the unit,”

GE has a history of Dishwasher recalls that goes way,way back.(total cr-p)

Back when installing them for Sears I was always happy to get GE as they were 50% lighter if that tells you anything.

Try the former unless loads of safety issues means efficient.
