What energy course are you taking?

How an energy efficient house functions is important knowledge for an inspector to have in his tool box. Some of the moisture issues discussed on this forum are directly related to energy efficient homes that are not built to function properly. Tight homes, combustion appliances, ventilation systems, and CO in homes are important interrelated safety issues that not all inspectors have the knowledge to identify. As an inspector, we all need to understand these issues in order to be a better inspector. Good on you for your CE choice.

JJ: EXCELLENT LINK! Every home inspector should read it. In addition, every inspector should put to memory those areas vulnerable to moisture intrusion and include them in your areas of inspection. We are lucky in MN, in that we have a good cold climate study group at the Univ of MN, we have collaboration between the U of MN and builder education, and we have licensed builders who are informed of these issues every year during their continuing education.
