Besides Cozy Coats for Kids, what other well-known charities spend a high % of donations on their mission?

Cozy Coats for Kids is run (by Maggie) really well with nearly all the donations going to the mission. I actually can’t find a charity that has a higher percent going to its mission than Cozy Coats for Kids. We have no payroll (everyone is a volunteer) and shipping is donated by Inspector Outlet. We had a total of $2,500 in overhead last year. All the rest went to buy custom coats for needy kids.

Here are some other well-known charities that also have high mission spending vs donations, some approaching 90% (less than 10% spent on overhead and fundraising). The rest are above 75%. So they are all good charities to donate to.

  • St. Jude’s Hospital (really good at about 90% going to their mission).
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Salvation Army
  • United Way
  • UNICEF
  • Doctors
  • American Red Cross
  • Goodwill

Here are some other well-known charities that have mediocre mission sending vs donations:

  • American Breast Cancer Foundation (only about 45% going to their mission).
  • Wounded Warrior Project
  • Feed the Children

Here are some other well-known charities that have very low mission spending vs donations. These are not good charities to donate to.

  • Children’s Wish Foundation (only about 15% going to their mission)
  • Cancer Fund of American (only about 5% going to their mission).
  • Kids Wish Network (only 1% going to their mission)

Here is the worst one:

  • Black Lives Matter (0% going to their mission, a scam).

The V Foundation gives 100% of donations to cancer research. It has an endowment to cover all administrative expenses.
