Bioethanol Fuel

Learned something new today… Inspected a $3M home, and they had a ventless fireplace, that burns ethanol and isopropyl.
Since it only produces carbon dioxide, no vent needed.
Pour the liquid in the tray, and light it.

Also burns oxygen. Probably does not give off much heat.

How much supplemental heat do you need in central Florida? I suspect that it produces a lot of water vapor which is probably not best practice in a climate where we try to control indoor humidity. I can see the benefits in the north where we intentionally add humidity in the winter.

I have inspected a couple of these. Takes a proprietary fuel that you can only purchase from the manufacture and it’s very expensive. It’s dangerous as hell the way it has to get filled up. Put off quite a bit of heat. The owners swear by it.

haha, not much! Its more of an ambiance pleasure. There are a few weeks of the year, however that heat is turned on

That was my thought. You have to pour the fuel in with the funnel, and then light it manually. But to turn it off, you just flip the housing over
