Black residue outside gable vent

Not to be contrary, this situation is not typical in my area. I would have to investigate further for a better understanding of the problem if I saw it on one of my inspections. I still cannot determine if it is an out-take or intake issue.

Exactly, thus my questions.

Your questions were excellent and succinct. And, I doubt the problem can be fully diagnosed without attic access. The OP stated he does not have access. So…it is mystery theater at this point.

Had to look up that word to add to my lexicon

Pics were shot today, 1/4/22 Here you go, This is a nonheated, noninsulated, storage building the gable is facing southeast, the moisture in the building is from wet grass from lawnmowers, and in the winter melting snow from a snowblower, and snow shovels, the only heat in the building is from the sun shining through a window and heat radiating from the roof shingles.

Warm moist air exiting from the louver, creating mildew, mold on the siding and louver.

Looking at the inside there are no signs of mold or mildew, clean as a whistle

Don’t have to convince me Scott. Typical of gable vents.
