According to the minimum standards Jeffrey you are right. I see many things that can be done according to minimum standard and I think you are well aware that not even Nick himself would deny that minimum standards are there not for us as Home Inspectors. Almost everything that has been set forth by InterNachi is above that. I would call out the b-vent and I would expect some will and some will not.
I would need a good reason to leave any vent at 8 feet from a vertical wall without the recommendation of raising it and since I fallow the CSA guidelines myself it will not happen.
Now given the situation of the OP, I would recommend raising it above the upper roof to meet the 2/10 rule even if it was over 9 feet away.
Well, since 10 feet is the minimum in Canada, you should be calling out anything less than 12 feet, right? After all, 10 feet is a “minimum standard,” and you like to “exceed” the “minimums.”
LOL:mrgreen:
CSA was not built to provide minimum guidelines Jeffrey. IRC was.
However I can speak for the InterNational US Fuel Gas Code does mention minimum.
Within there is the 8 ft away is OK also.
After 40+ posts, are you agreeing with the 8’ away?
I never did not agree Marcel. My comment was based on my Area and based on CSA-149. It has been a learning experience I assure you for all new Inspectors.
What they follow would also be interesting as the continue tweaking of safety is an ongoing thing and minimum standards are changed after they are found to be too low.
I wonder why does a learning experience seem to take so many posts .
What ever happened to KISS .
I thought providing the CSA B-149 Installation Code would keep it simple to show my stand does not change.
I dare say that you have graced us with your presence the longest :D, so now all we need is someone … KISS …for a detailed answer. Did you have anyone in mind?
Sometimes it takes more than one time around to get it…it’s all good.
That has to be one of your most asinine posts to date Kevin.
A more restrictive code does not mean a “higher standard,” it simply means a DIFFERENT standard.
It is what it is Jeffrey and I was there to prove it.
And Kevin responds…
Yes, it is what it is, and you have no clue what it is.
More useless dribble and false information being provided from our uneducated buffoon - Kevin Wood
Well at least I can’t ever be told I ever will follow the crowd of “Minimum Standard Inspections” by CODE or soft reports as I call them.
It is always going to be a higher bar to reach in Ontario and Canada Jeffrey.
In your own mind, perhaps. But the truth is, anyone hiring you for their inspection has the misfortune of having an unqualified person making asinine comments about their potential purchase. You’re a complete fraud…
I just found a post you weighed in on on an electrical forum – I have a question that I keep getting different answers to and at this point don’t know who knows the answer. Maybe you do?
Every day I answer Home Inspectors and the general public Jeffrey but I don’t make a big deal about it. Nick knows this too.
Not once have I had someone return comments that I was wrong and sometimes my suggestions do go above the Minimum Building Code.
All they say is thank you for your time and I will use your suggestion or something like that.
I now am getting calls to join CMI’s but they all say the same thing about commenting on the MB at InterNachi. They will not!!!
Every time that I have a battle it is a win for me as more and more Home Inspectors e-mail me and more and more Real Estate Agents recommend me.
Granted I do not have the skills you have in MB manipulation but I guess I will have to live with this downfall.
Congratulations on being an effective con-man.
Anyone paying attention knows better than to put their faith in you.
So what’s your electrical question?
I limit any conversation with anyone that says I am a fraud. Very few are in that category.
Congratulations on being in that group.
Well then by all means, continue to remain uninformed and uneducated.
