Customer Service and Communication for Inspectors Course

I read “My Trick for Building Inspection Websites that Converts Visitors into Clients”. I’ve visited other home inspector websites that have the stock photos on their page and I’ve visited sites with personal photos. Those sites with personal photos show that the inspector is willing to get dirty to get to the hard to inspect areas. This will convey to potential clients that an inspector will work during the inspection.

Most inspectors prefer to use a multi-position ladder, also known as an articulating ladder. They can be used as both an extension ladder and an A-frame ladder. It can also lock into several different sizes and angles. They are handy on stairs, single or two-story homes, or for getting into smaller spaces like attics. Articulating ladders will fold up to a small 4 5 feet tall, so are easy to haul around with you as you are out on inspections

Electric storage water heaters heat and retain a quantity of water in an insulated cylinder, ready for use. They provide hot water at mains pressure, and as they can deliver the whole stored quantity immediately it’s needed, can service many outlets at the one time.

The photo I chose was a inspector testing the auto reverse and the electronic eye safety mechanisms on an overhead door. In this photo you see the inspector using both hands and facing the backside of the door while testing the auto reverse. In my opinion the inspector should test the auto reverse with only one hand and turn perpendicular to the door and watch the of top of the door to make sure the door is not being damaged while testing the auto reverse.

For me I prefer to use an appointment book. It has room for notes, scheduling new appointments, contact info and it is always with me inside my clipboard which has extra office supplies as well.staying organized is vital in my opinion to be successful in any business.

This course was my final course and although most of the information given in the course I have already learned it was great to review and remember all my previous training. Remember ask don’t tell and listen don’t talk. Customer service is everything don’t forget it.

The image I chose shows possible inspector attire, from very casual shorts and tank top to a suit on the other end of the spectrum. Neither of these two extremes is ideal. An inspector needs to look nice, clean and neat, and yet appropriately for the work they will perform. Somewhere in the middle is ideal for a inspector.

I chose and image of the book “now that you’ve had your home inspected”. I really like the idea of a personalized home maintenance manual that the inspector could give to all his clients or potential customers. I feel like it is something they are likely to keep and it will help to remind people of your business. Great marketing.

this response survey form that, should be sent all clients after an inspection has been completed, will be received by the inspector, in the manor that it was intendedfor. this response will help the inspector to improve their ability for future client relations.

Pricing and Billing for Home Inspectors by Nick and Ben Gromicko is an excellent article regarding many aspects of billing, pricing yourself competitively, and how to do all the above. The article has many useful links and resources, especially the inspection fee calculator that factors in a base price, mileage, and the age/size of the home.

It also makes a lot of good points on how to actively find other inspectors fees and price your own accordingly. Before reading the article i figured the best way to price your services was to see what competitors charge and price it at about the same price, but that is not the whole truth. An inspector also needs to take into consideration how busy they are, what audience they are trying to attract, how much money they need to “keep the doors open”, and what they want to make.

the 10 ways to save energy in a building is a guide that should be sent to every client after an inspection has been done. this booklet will help any client to perhaps save energy and savings in both their homes and buissnesses.

This picture says a lot about what is the appropriate amount of clothing needed to successfully and professionally complete a home inspection. I like how there is definitive line on what is acceptable to wear and what is not for a home inspection.

The article i am writing about is all about the professionalism of the everyday home inspector and how important it is to treat your customers with extreme respect. I also learned a lot about 1st impressions and how important they are for growing your business.

The clothing being worn in this picture would not be a good choice while preforming an inspection. While the person does look nice and well kept, this is to dressy for an inspection. A suit and tie is not necessary and my get ruined doing some tasks on the job.

Your company’s website is an incredibly valuable business tool. Your website can easily gain or lose you customers. It should be clear, visually appealing, and lead the potential client to make the decision to buy now. In the attached example, the website itself, in my opinion, it visually appealing and professional. However, it took me about three seconds to find out that the navigation bar didn’t work on my Chrome browser. So now I have to figure out a different way to find the information. Some people would just choose another site to visit.

Stairway inspections should include checking the condition and steadfastness of handrails.Treads and risers should be checked for required size and uniformity. Lighting and headroom should be adequate. Carpet should be secure and not able to move about and cause a trip hazard.

First impressions for a home inspection company are critical. What you look like, how well you speak, the words you choose, how you communicate, even how you reply to a clients email all play a role in producing your first impression. If your first impression is good, then youve taken the first step in providing great customer service.

The picture above is a picture of me without combed hair. Showing up to an inspection without properly grooming can be offputting. An Inspector should be properly groomed including combing his or her hair and dressing appropriately. Good hygiene is also needed such as brushing your teeth and wearing deodorant.
