Inspected a condo with electric baseboards and observed this Definite Purpose Contactor in-line with a t-stat for a circuit with three baseboard units. I think I understand the purpose of this device but don’t understand the use for this application. Additional safety feature? Thanks

A contactor is just a relay. Low voltage/current (thermostat) switches a high voltage/current (baseboard).

Yep, did the research and found all this info, I just have never seen one used for this application and can’t see why it’s in use here.

More or less so you can have a low voltage thermostat instead of a line voltage thermostat.
