I have a wall running north and south on two floors.

The first floor drywall ceiling, on both the east and west sides of the north-to-south wall where the ceiling and wall meet, is losing tape and have the nails popping out.

The second floor has the master bath, and the shower is on the north-to-south wall, immediately above the nail and tape separation on the first floor ceiling.

Aside from the tape and nail separation, there are no stains or other signs of moisture.

What do you think?

age of house? sounds like a very small leak, must be moisture there to peel the tape.

If they have a well or the cold water is really cold, condensation can form inside the area of the water pipe and drip all over.

That's okay, Mike. My bet is that her "Uncle Joe" already has.

City water, but the wall on first floor divides the kitchen and laundry room. Sweating pipes are a good possibility.

In my experience nail pops are usually caused by movement. The tape is a different story but could be also the same cause. If it were moisture I believe the drywall would swell and the nails would just receed into the soft plaster.

Just my thoughts.
