1966 build SFR. I can’t make out the brand and don’t recognize this device. My best guess is an old electrostatic filter. No attic access to get near it and I did not unscrew the panel. AC exterior roof mounted unit in close proximity.
Google image search didn’t help. Nothing in the archives that I could find. I pressed the “On” button and didn’t hear anything.
Does anyone recognize it? I would like to be able to properly name it in the report.
Morning, David. Hope you are well.
Good post.
Electrically charged material pleated filters catch dust, pollen, and other airborne particles.
2 basic models. Disposable and Reusable. As well there, filtration efficiency, the ability to catch finer particulate.
Not to be confused with ionic cleaners that produce ozone. The air cleaner utilize ionizers* and electrostatic precipitators, ESP, are other types of devices that emit ozone, but do so as a by-product of their design.
