Was it active?
It was live.
Wire was silver colored. House was 1945.
I would call it out as being outdated, splices not made in junction boxes, exposed live wires, and a potential fire hazard.
Tinned copper. Aluminum never had cloth insulator.
And they have stray romex wires tapping the bar for hots.
Major DEFECT. With wiring like that it’s a wonder the house hasn’t burned down. This belongs in the WTF thread. Then again it’s atrocious enough it deserves its own thread.
Interesting construction. Besides you’re concerns about the electrical observations. it seems there are also indications of mousture intrusion on the vertical (dryer?) duct.
Was there a breaker or fuse box in the house ? or Was this the main distribution bus? Very interesting that is for sure. Thanks for sharing.

That’s the most creative “junction bridge” I’ve ever seen… and I’ve been ding this for a minute…
Good to see you back Jeff.
Hi Dom. Still here
I recently relocated to Tennessee, so things are a bit slow during my transition. I figured I’d come hang out with you guys again for a while.
Thank you for bringing this to attention. It appears there’s a significant risk of shock or electrocution due to the old electrical wiring in the attic. It’s essential to have this outdated system inspected and updated by a licensed electrician to ensure safe operation.
Absolutely.
Very nice! It’ll be good to have you here again, Jeff.
