heaving concrete

We purchased our home six months ago and over the past few months we have noticed a bulge , “Lump” under the carpeting in our basement family room. We had the carpet contractor make sure it wasn’t extra padding. He said that it wasn’t. He also remembered laying the carpet and there was not a lump then. I remember showing the builder cracks in the cement prior to the carpet going in and he said it was normal and he would seal them. We have been measuring the lump daily the past week and it seems to be getting higher on one side. The builder is making noice that it is an act of God and not covered by our warranty. I am having the carpet pulled back this week so we can see where we stand. Any thoughts?

Need more information and pictures if possible. Curing cracks can occur but an elevation change indicates a sub slab problem
