On May 6, 2026, InterNACHI Korea began a new CPI certification training program in South Korea. Through this program, a new group of Korean inspectors has completed their training and taken an important step forward as professional home inspectors.
This group was especially meaningful because the participants were not only new students entering the inspection field. They were already experienced professionals in the Korean construction industry, including timber construction company owners, site supervisors, general construction site managers, and senior leaders from Habitat for Humanity Korea.
In Korea, the home inspection profession is still developing. Home inspection is not yet a fully established or legally required part of the residential construction and real estate process. Because of that, training experienced builders and construction professionals to look at buildings through the eyes of an inspector is very important.
During the CPI training program, we focused not only on passing a course or earning a credential, but also on understanding the role of an inspector. A good inspector does not simply look for defects after construction is complete. A good inspector understands building systems, moisture, structure, safety, workmanship, and the small details that often become larger problems later.
Many of the participants already had strong field experience. However, construction experience and inspection thinking are not exactly the same. Builders often focus on how to complete the work. Inspectors must also think about how that work may perform over time, how it may fail, and how it may affect the people living in the home.
That is why this training was important.
The growth of InterNACHI Korea is not only about increasing the number of certified inspectors. It is about helping Korean construction professionals develop a more systematic, preventive, and professional way of evaluating homes.
We believe that the best problem is the one that never happens.
Through InterNACHI education, we will continue to introduce professional home inspection standards, building science, and practical field-based inspection methods to Korea.
