Jeff,
I'm hoping to get your thought on pool safety tip information.
I understand the obligations involved in pointing out the potential dangers.
At this present time, I have no intentions of inspecting pools or spa. It is listed in my contract under the exclusions portions. Along with a disclaimer of a pool safety inspection in my report. Should I include any consumer protection publication along with my report on pool safety?
Or am I opening myself into a land I do not wish to go!
What do you think.

John,
I know EVERYTHING about pools, pool safety, and disclaiming pools. But i'm not going to tell you due to the addition of your new Yankee Logo.
Just kidding. I'm the wrong person to help you in regard to pools. Good luck with the info, not the Yankees.

Don't make me open my thread again.
Besides, If I installed a #3 Dale Earnhardt logo, I'd hear it anyway.

Jeff,
As always you provide a wealth of information. I read the posts and copied the info as well. I have installed alarms and gates around pools in my area for a while but I have not inspected any pools or spas for a client. I am going be doing a couple ride alongs, however, through a pool company doing some inspections soon. Thanks again.

Happy to help
Patrick,
ITA has opened a new facility in Norther CA. Consider taking the P&S course they offer. It's very basic, but it's an excellent beginning. It's a one-day course. http://www.home-inspect.com/courses/poolspa.html
With your background in installation, you're a step ahead.

“Bonding” requirements are what you need.
I used to have a diagram that illustrated this, but here are the basics.
All metal within 5 feet horizontally of the pool water and/or within 12 feet vertically above the overflow level of the pool or spa (whichever is higher).
Think of it as a box placed over the pool, 10 feet larger than the pool (5 feet on each side and end) and 12 feet high. Any metal within that "box" are required to be bonded, as well as the pool equipment.
