Merry Christmas

** What, then, will this child be? **

                           ** - Luke 1:66 **

** There are many who look at Christians a bit awkwardly this time of year and wonder why we spend so much time and energy recalling the birth of a baby. It's a fair question. Who is this child to us?

Indeed, if we are only celebrating a moment in the life of a historic figure, we are wasting our time. But for those who believe, the story is more. For this child is the incarnation of God, made flesh to live among us and remind us that we are never alone and that he is still alive, moving and working in our lives. That is what this child can be. **

** Thank you, Jesus, for living among us still.**

“BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”

She wasn’t a Virgin! But it makes for a great story!

The Birth of Jesus

**1** In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
**2** (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
**3** And everyone went to their own town to register.
**4** So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
**5** He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
**6** While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
**7** and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

Merry Christmas.
