Natural gas hot water heater vent pipe pitch

I called this out. Natural gas vent pipe appears to pitch down as it enters the chimney. Am I being too picky?

Good call.

No you’re not. It’s a negative slope.

Also… “generally speaking”… natural draft venting should have a 12 inch vertical rise before the first elbow.

Given all the repairs to the chimney from prior vents, I think it’s time to go power assisted out the sidewall!

William, I carried a magnetic torpedo level with me. The are small and inexpensive.

You can see them here.

You may enjoy having one with you.
