If your logo cannot be easily and quickly be converted into a single color graphic it will cause you problems down the road. If your logo cannot be scaled down without compromising legibility it will cause you problems down the road. Typically the more simple and direct a design is, the easier it is to work into a more complicated arrangement later (see bottom image). If your logo is a copy of every other logo in the try-state area, you are invisible and completely impossible to pick out of a line-up. The goal of a logo is that you remain recognizable and distinct from other people who provide the exact same service. A logo is not a tiny picture to show people what you do. A logo is an image that should reinforce the name of your specific company.
