Hi all,

State regulation of Home Inspectors is coming
and it is primarily controlled by ASHI at this point.

I will keep you all informed as I am attend 2 meetings
next week at the state level.

Imput is needed and strongly recommended from NH
and Mass Inspectors. We need to get NACHI involved!

Hi Nick,

try this for access to the house bill

http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2005/hb0642.html

The realtor and the legislators are working with certain ASHI
member/s because that is all that they know of, who has approached
them with imput.

I think that NACHI should be instrumental in the expedition

Good morning all

Nick, I got an email this morning from state rep Gale asking me
to attend the bill hearing next week and give testimony.
I am planning on going and would really like gerry to come with
me as he is familiar I'm sure with Mass legis. and also being the
educator.

http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legislation/2005/hbo642.html

it should not be up to the municipalities, bad idea

You are correct Carla, it should not be up to each municipality. There should be one law for the State. Can you imagine the confusion if each area had its own set of rules.

Good Luck

Hi all,

All of a sudden this is all happening very fast.
I will be going on the 16th to the house bill hearing
and I would like some NACHI imput to bring with me.

I was informed that the regulations will be based on ASHI
standards.

Please read the bill and give me your imput.

Thanks to all,

Carla

Great Gerry, I finally get to meet you in person!

I have a NHAR meeting that morning in Concord
so maybe we can have lunch before the hearing
to discuss the issues at hand.

Hi all,

Disregard the bill that I have posted, as they have completely

ammended it.

For now the legis. has faxed the current doc. to me so I cannot

post it here.

I will say that 2 sections are as follows:

minimum qualifications for home inspectors based on the standards

of ASHI

and

experience requirements shall be based upon the criteria established

by ASHI.

Gerry I still cannot get your # so call me and I will fax the copy to you.

In my opinion this is a blatant attempt by the ASHI lobby to monopolize the Home inspection business in New Hampshire for the benefit of their members and to the determent of NACHI members specifically.

So what can we do about this?

The State of New Hampshire has convened a public hearing to discuss this proposed bill on Wednesday 16th March 2005 at 1.00pm:

Room 301
Legislative office building
Municipal & County Government Committee.
Concord NH.

Your livelihoods are at stake here and those of your fellow members. I would urge all who are able to attend this meeting to help steer this bill along a more rational path.

Please e-mail me back at NewEngland@nachi.org with any questions or queries.

I look forward to meeting you all there.

Regards

Gerry

Hey Gerry,

Do you want to meet up before the hearing?

there is a parking garage a couple of blocks from
the LOB and I would say that's our best bet for any
parking.

Hi to all,

Firstly I would like to thank those members who showed up at the meeting in Concord today, your support was much appreciated, thanks.

I believe that all at the meeting agreed that the bill in its current format is just not workable, and to achieve a meaningful bill would entail going back to the drawing board.

Even the ASHI guys agreed that there should be no mention of any specific association in any further proposals.

All present were asked if the major associations would be available to work together on a future licening bill, and all agreed.

This was chaos at its finest, with not even the Legislature having read the last addendum to the Bill.

I hope that as and then this proposal is revisited that the legislature has a better understanding of the Home Inspection industry

Given the opportunity NACHI should be at the forefront off anynew legislation that is meaningful to consumers and fair to all inspectors both our members and all those independants out there in inspectionland.

Two down sides to the day, a Joe something from ASHI just had to have the last word, and Carla Horne showed up in a filthy truck !!

Sorry Carla could not resist ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

It was great to meet up again with some old friends, and make some new ones.

Regards

Gerry

Hi all,

Just an update for our NE members

The HB642 was due out of committee on March 24, now it is
retained in committee. Looks like it will be a long while
before anything happens.

I have joined the NHAR public policy committee so that
I can be in Concord more often and on top of this bill.

I will keep you informed.

I now forgive you for the dirty truck ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Hi all,

Just an update on HB642

The bill is still retained in committee.
There will most likely be a licensing committee formed.
We are working on completely rewriting the bill.

I will keep the MB updated relative to the status of that bill.
