opinions on GFCI outlets for non grounded oputlets

If that ain’t a mouth full…:stuck_out_tongue:

I would be interested in this documentation as well.

No requirement for the equipment ground, the problem is in the design.

Demo, by a rep from Leviton, was at our 80th annual seminar for the Ohio Chapter of the IAEI. He showed that no power was available at the device if the equipment grounding conductor was not present.

I agree that this is not good for the replacement rule for 2 wire systems, that is what I conveyed to the reps I spoke of earlier.

PS

Every system ( 2-wire ) has a ground. Please do not use ‘ground’ for the equipment grounding conductor. The white wire is the grounded conductor.

Ungrounded, Grounded and Grounding are the terms I would suggest…lets not confuse the 3…lol…

Ungrounded- Hot Wires ( usually Black or Red in Single Phase )
Grounded - Neutral Wires ( Usually White in Residential Wiring )
Grounding - Equipment Grounding ( Usually Bare Copper or Green Insulated Copper)

The ACT of BONDING is NOT the same as Grounding…Know the difference…

just a little reminder…oh yeah…and it only takes 1/10th of an AMP to kill ya…be sure you know which wire is which…lol
