Purple Copper Water Supply Lines

Has anyone come across purple copper supply lines? Home is located in central NJ along the coast, crawlspace, clothes dryer venting into the crawlspace, metal HVAC trunk rusted through, no vapor barrier, some mold, some subfloor rot. I have never seen this before. Any ideas?

Purple means non-potable, but I wouldn’t expect it where you found it and I’ve never seen it done with copper. What is it connected to?

Was it a Meth House?

I read that;

Ammonia would be the most likely culprit that makes copper turn purple.

  • Ammonium Chloride
  • Anhydrous Ammonia
