It did meet the “less than 6 movements” rule though. The 70 amp about halfway down is feeding the bars in the lower half.

Stick of dynamite? I'll have you know that the seller who called to threaten me with a lawsuit over this one said a licensed electrician did that lovely double-lugging at the top, and an electrical engineer inspected and approved it.

SO THERE!

Well, what about the upper half?

The upper half has a total of 5 breakers, including the one that feeds the lower half.

If the upper half is protected by that two-pole breaker (cannot make out the amps) then that ugly alum connection is just an un-fused circuit?

It's difficult to see that it is a split bus, but closer observation seems to have confirmed that.

I assumed that these were the SE cables.

Are all of the upper circuits 240 amps? I can't see the handle ties if so.

The lugs at the top feed the bars at the top, but not the bottom half (fed through the 70 amp breaker). Those 5 in the upper half are all 220v, and they disconnect all the circuits when off. Doesn’t that comply with the “6 movements” rule?

I would have to say yes ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif) although I answered "no" originally.

As I said, it's difficult to see the handle ties and appeared to be six circuits @ 120 volts and two circuits @ 240 volts, plus the lower half.

Yeah, the handle ties are hard to see on those “skinny” jobs.

What got me was that the electrician double-lugged on top for a subpanel in an outbuilding, but there was enough room at the bottom for one more skinny double-pole. A totally unneccesary risk that could have resulted in burning the house down.

When I told the client about it during the walk-through he asked to see it. I finally agreed after some discussion (wherein he agreed not get closer than 3 feet or extend either hand), and pulled the cover. He stared at it for a good 5 minutes, wrote me a check, and backed out of the deal. The seller called threatening me 2 days later. When one has photos like this in ones pocket, threats bounce off like marshmallows. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

That’s perfectly alright Gerry, it’s a useful photo. I don’t see things like that very often…that’s what Jeff Pope is for. icon_biggrin.gif
