Questions Of The Week January 19, 2022

Welcome To Questions of The Week!

A member of the Awards Committee will post questions, at a random day/time.

Members may make one post per question thread to answer the questions, and the member’s winning entry must have all parts of the questions answered completely in that one post.

No editing is allowed and INELIGIBLE members will be disqualified .

First correct answers (as judged by the Awards Committee or Poster of the Questions) wins.

Request your choice by emailing fastreply@nachi.org and submit your Mailing address for shipping.

Choose your prize from the following list!:

** $50.00 gift certificate from Inspector Outlet

** Case of books "Now That You’ve Had A Home Inspection"

** Seventeen Custom Branded Videos value $50.00 ~ your choice!

Great questions, Marc. :+1:

1 a (for a non-conductive nearby surface)
2 d
3 b (if referring to the person “having” the kinetic energy of the ball. The person has (a) which can be used to roll down the hill.
4 b
5 all of those are used for the purpose

Driving My Life Away Eddie Rabbit
From the movie Roadie, if I remember right

  1. A
  2. B
  3. C. (To explain my answer. The ball itself has Potential energy at the top of the hill. The ball itself has Kinetic energy when rolling down the hill. But the Person has Thermal energy at the top of the hill, ball or no ball.)
  4. C
  5. B

1- a) Incident energy
2- b) activate the trip signal to open the contacts
3-a&c) The timing of the ball toss has nothing to do with it. The Boy’s gravitational potential energy equals his mass times the height of the hill times the force of gravity. (PE=mass x height x g)

Everybody has thermal energy (aka heat energy). It is the energy possessed by an object due to the movement of particles within the object. (Q= mass x temperature x specific heat)
4-c) Interrupt the current flow
5-d) Air circuit breakers (either magnetic or compressed air) are currently preferred to oil circuit breakers

So… … …
It was pretty close with great responses.
I’m probably gonna get in trouble with Joe & Bert with their
extensive experience & knowledge.
Hope to see you all next time :cowboy_hat_face:

Congrats to Ryan Uecker & Jim Gilbert for the win!

Thanks Mark!

Just a few words if I may…

I have to thank my family for their enduring support, my friends, my fellow inspectors, the Academy, the Rewards Committee, InterNACHI, and countless others. But most of all, I have to thank Google. For being there when I needed them, for correcting my spelling when I type search terms wrong, for not judging me by some of the stuff I search . Thank you Google.
