Essay:
The 4x4 untreated wooden post to the front porch handrail is in contact with soil. This is showing wood rot and is conducive to insect infestation. It is recommended that the post be removed. The replacement post should be of treated wood, supported by a concrete base. The concrete base is to extend a minimum of 6" above ground level. (Also see: “Porch Steps in contact with soil”.)
