Roof Inspection Advice

Just for comparison, around here I see these kind of mid-vents. Mid-vents are not very common here. I have never seen one like the pictured above. That kinda looks like an abrasive scrubby for your kitchen sink.

Same here, I do not know. The customer caught me flatfooted on the cleaning question. I have no problem admitting I do not know something, but I like to find the answer. So far, it has been Google proof, lol. I need to find the manufacturer, I’ll get around to it.

GAF Makes Cobra vents that use a media sorta like that. No, I’ve never seen it, I’m just googling around a bit for media that matches that look.

I’m with Larry. My first try would be with a shop vac. I would use a small attachment similar to the one below. I’m thinking the gunk isn’t deeply embedded, so it might come off with the vac.

If that didn’t work, my next try would be with compressed air from inside the attic, assuming I could get to it. If all the above failed, then replacement would be the last solution. But I wouldn’t replace it with the same setup, knowing now that it gets clogged.

Step 1: Find out what you are working with!
A Nylon brush should do the job to see what’s behind the debris…

I’m assuming that will do the job.

If not, an air compressor with a long hose to the attic, may be enough to blow it out from inside the attic.
