Simulated wood shake shingles

I am in South Dakota and an upscale development has started switching over from a wood shake shingle to a composite simulated shake due to fire dangers. These roofs do not appear to provide attic ventilation. Can anyone provide information regarding what steps are taken to vent the attic?

May not be vented at all. Have you been in any of the attics?

I have been in the attics. The old-style roof vents are covered and there are no ridge vents.

No spray foam insulation though?

This sounds like an installation error. Attic must be ventilated to prevent mold. Happened two doors down to my friend Dennis. Had siding installed and they covered the gable vents (these houses have no soffit vents).

No spray foam. All loose fill.

I agree. The contractor who installed it said it’s an acceptable install but no way it’s getting the moisture out of the attic.
