Slab cracked all the way around

Hey everyone , happy New Year!

I am at this house this morning and there is a crack that runs horizontally around almost the entire home. It is on a slab and looks like it’s is slightly bowing outwards. My guess is just separate pours done poorly but I was hoping to get some other thoughts. I don’t think it’s really anything to be super concerned about but not 100% confident in that.

Thanks in advance!

Cold joint separation. Concrete was poured at different times. It looks like a parge coating was applied at some point but has flaked off. Cracks should be repaired, IMO, and new parge coating be applied to prevent water intrusion.

I agree, with Michael, on the repair of existing cracks.

It definitely looks like a large coat was also applied. Would y’all agree in that case, no real concern?

Is this slab, crawl, basement? any pics from inside?

The OP stated it is on a slab.

If there was no apparent evidence of uneven settlement inside, I would just call it out for correction. It is important to fix it or it will get worse over time with water getting into those cracks. I would not state it is due to cold joints. Let the contractor figure that out. Whenever you have a crack like that, if not in part due to rebar rusting, water getting in can reach rebar and cause havoc on the foundation.
