To become a registered home inspector in South Dakota an applicant must:
- Have successfully completed high school or high school equivalency
- Have successfully completed an approved home inspector course of not less than 40 hours
- Successfully completed a registration examination administered by the South Dakota
Real Estate Commission
- Submit an application and application fee to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission.
- Receive approval of the application from the South Dakota Real Estate Commission.
To become a licensed home inspector in South Dakota an applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Have successfully completed high school or high school equivalency
- Have successfully completed an approved home inspector course of not less than 40 hours
- Been employed as a registered home inspector for no less than one year and performed at least 100 home inspections for compensation
- Successfully completed a licensing examination administered by the South Dakota Real Estate Commission (Contact the Commission office for exam information.)
- Submit an application, experience log and application fee to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission
- Receive approval of the application from the South Dakota Real Estate Commission.
ONCE LICENSED, THERE IS NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A LICENSED HOME INSPECTOR AND THOSE OF A REGISTERED HOME INSPECTOR.
