Stairway Lighting

I have them outside at my front house entry- winter design temp is -17 C (about +1 F), Standard CFL (not a cold start ballast) is a bit slow but after about 1 min is quite bright.

I doubt Santa Clarita Ca ever sees -17c

Sorry for the delay,

Never even close. Two days of 28f last winter and pipes were bursting all over town. . .

Jeff, How is the PRC on using motion sensor lights on stairways?
I have motion lights all over and it seems perfect for stairs. (tho I don’t have any)
Once you get used to the lights being on wherever you go the whole idea of light switches seems silly. I only switch task lights.

From what I can tell, they may be on a “manual-on occupancy sensor,” a “dimmer,” or they can be “high efficacy” (fluorescent) lighting.

I’ve been doing some research on this and this is what I’ve come up with so far. The builders I’ve spoken with seem to disagree with the CFL’s being allowed for stairways, but can’t provide me with a reason or reference. So I’m still searching for a definitive answer.
