This week’s (April 30, 2024) Tuesday Night Auction for Cozy Coats for Kids is the Gorham Mint collection.
Inflation isn’t going away, buy some silver: Wealth Storage
Auction items are being provided by Nick Gromicko
This set is the First Thirteen Colonies Bicentennial Medallion Set by the Gorham Mint in .925 Sterling Silver. Total weight = 27.4 grams each x 13 pieces = 356.20 grams divided by 31.1 = 11.45 ounces x .925 purity = 10.50 Troy ounces of silver (melt). Medals are in high relief. Box is beat up IMHO. This is a full set.
The Gorham Mint produced 5,000 of these individually numbered sets in 1976 (this is #2664), but sadly, most of these sets were melted down in the early 1980’s when the price of silver spiked. most famous Each coin measures 1 1/2" in diameter, high relief, and struck in sterling silver.
