Do you have an Ohio license to perform Radon Testing?

Bob, to answer your question. Missouri doesn’t require licensing for testing; I use Airchek, www.airchek.com for the charcoal kits and send them into the labs to be tested.

They do not have licensing here either. I use the charcoal kits and send them in. They send me a supply of what I need and I pay as I send them in to be tested. Two canisters per test runs around $46.50.

The sucky part is going back and retrieving the sample containers. Sux if it’s a long way away. Tomorrow I have an inspection 110 miles away, and thursday I have to go back and retrieve the container. I charged extra because it is so far away. Agents are touchy about Radon testing, as it always pushes the envelope to the inspection contingency deadline to the max waiting on results. Usually takes a few days to get results back.

Kevin, Have you checked into one of these?

Clients love it, as do the Realtors for the fast on the spot results.

thanks for the responses… in Ohio only the homeowner may test, any other tester must be Licensed in Ohio. my last two calls asked if i test for it, i dont and i explained the situation.

im a newbie and just dont know where to go with them just yet. bring in a licensed third party (referral)?? tell them its up to them and maybe lose the inspection?? like Kevin mentioned in a previous post i read, its not profitable yet to lease/rent the equipment, but maybe ill look into the canisters. im just worried that if those arent as accurate.... whats the point. are they (based on the same test duration)?

Unless you deal with the Remax office in Lady Lake FL. where I have been told if I continue to inform clients of Radon I will recieve NO inspections from certian Realtors in that office ![icon_confused.gif](upload://qv5zppiN69qCk2Y6JzaFYhrff8S.gif)

All Realtors do not like informed clients.

I'll soon be seeking legal advice.

I used Todd's note to voice some agravation I have over a local Realtor telling me to stop providing service and quality inspections to my clients or No more inspections from him. He has also complained to the office Broker who is relaying the same thoughts as the Realtor.

My comment was not referencing any device refered to in any of the posts.

Funny this post is here now, a company (lab) out of FL called me yesterday and does Radon testing. Supplies the cannisters and a fed/ex envelope to send them for $9.00 each. Online results, etc. They also are giving a mold certification class (for free).

They are sending me more information.
