RE_ROOFING
IRC: R905.3.3.1 Low-slope roofs
Double underlayment
• 19 inch starter strip parallel to and starting at the eave, fastened to hold in place
• followed with a 36 inch wide sheet in succession over lapping each sheet by 19 inches
Or option three here is a Ice shield instead of a starter = 2 layers of felt.
I am in a large metropolis.
Not often found but 19inch selvage and 17 granular in torch/cool roll have been around sense my hay days. 1976.
From the first photo (1 picture says it all) I saw no 19 selvage and 2 nail protrusions and what looked like a rip. 4 defects.
If that was my first glimpse at the roof, no more null hypotheses and I would observing and recording condition.
(At a feverish pace by the looks of the other roof photo’s.)
To say “one picture says it all” might be understating but the obvious is there seeing no 17" exposure.
JMO.
Sorry for the math thing in my photo. 16 and not 17" inch.
I always left one inch off the total width.
Must be an IKO thing. HA HA HA
.
Here you go Jeffrey.

Not correct Robert!
The exposure is correct.
Hard to tell from a photo.
good stuff.
Agreed that is why the only thing everyone missed is the evident nails protruding through the felt. They used a garden rack to remove the nails. LOL
This is the Roofing Contractors fault not the helpers along with not using a roller.
I was generous in saying that they could use a 40 lb roller instead of the standard 70 lb.
They just did not even bother using any roller.
What in the World does that link on Metal roofing have to do with roll roofing, single coverage or double coverage with a selvage edge?
Just an example of using the self adhesive ice shield!
Kevin, there is no installation of Ice & Watershield and felt paper with roll roofing applications.
ya think ?..
Point #8 modified bitumen ice and water shield. Yes it is allowed here.
Kevin, I am very sorry to say, you don’t have a clue on how roll roofing gets installed.
Please stop showing or indicating any new Inspectors that you might know what you are talking about.
It is obvious you have never installed the product.
I am sure Jim will agree with me also.
Thank you.
Marcel… welcome to the Rabbit Hole!
I guess not. Are you surprised?
Ok Marcel than educate me as to how to install it then!
So since you didn’t see the nails on the first picture I posted what should you see?
Also tell me what is wrong with the picture that Robert put on here?
And more importantly why did you say you see nothing wrong with the roof after blowing it up 400%
Than I display pictures and you still can’t see anything or do you think the pictures didn’t come from the same roof.
BS
Kevin, I will not get into an argument here. I stand on the fact that you have no clue on how these products get installed.
Good choice!
