3D Graphic Footing Loads on Soil

Here is a high resolution 3D version of the loading a strip or continuous footing has on the underlying soil. From the diagram you can see the footing load quickly dissipates down to 30% of the load at a depth twice the footing width, then down to 10% at four times the footing width. The 45° line is typically used to depict the outer limits of excavation.
