Ok gentlemen, do you all have to report the lack of an air gap device on the drain of a dishwasher?
Is it required in your areas?

Yes. I believe it’s pretty much a national requirement to prevent a cross connection.
There should be an air-gap or a "high-loop."

Now there in, lies the rub. The high loop, or sanitary loop, is what appears to be required by most manufacturers and the IRC.
I wonder who has stock in those leaky air gap devices?
Thanks

The high loop if no air gap should start from the disposal , go high and then

For a good discussion of air gap devices, go to this thread in which I made an
a$% of myself and discovered that air gaps are not nearly so universal as I and many others had thought.

I have not seen an air gap since I’ve been inspecting in FL. Everything here is a high loop.
So are some of the plumbers who install them ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)
