He connected the dishwasher drain right into the garbage disposal. But there was no high loop. I put the drain hose up as in this next picture and will recommend to the buyers that it needs to be attached to the bottom of the counter. What do you all think?

The dishwasher drain can connect to the head of the food grinder, but it needs to be a 3/4" line, with a “high loop” attached to the counter underside as you noted, per IRC P2717.3

Just my opinion and 2-nickels ... ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

I am absolutely amazed sometimes by how much thought goes into doing things wrong

So what is the general consensus around the the various areas about the need for an Air GAP above the counter?

Some cities in my area say they are required, and others not necessary if the drain line has high loop.

Just curious how other states and cities are.

(by the way, I run across many air gap devices that leak)

Also some dishwashers have a high loop built-in and then don’t require a loop under the sink.

Air gaps aren't required here.

This is what makes inspecting so fun. We get to change our wording over, and over, and over again.

Blaine, you got that right. Every house I do I have to change the wording in my report. Sometimes it is a pain. especially with my typing. icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif
