Removing the aluminum does not guarantee that all the poor connections are removed. Poor connections can happen with copper conductors also.
And there you have it…the infamous controversy. Which is why I don’t recommend anything one way or the other, as I stated.
But please enlighten further - Are you saying that NO aluminum connections need evaluated, or are you saying that ALL copper connections need evaluated?
What…are you saying that in this FORUM world, only the article from Mr. Gromicko should be published?..Probably not but just in case because I don’t want to quote you incorrectly.
Fact - My Home does have AL Conductors in it. The Service Conductors are AL and the Branch Circuit to my HVAC and Range are AL as well. My dwelling has a mixture of both AL and CU…I don’t discriminate against products that work and that are code compliant.
Just Sayin!
The reason I assisted in creating the Aluminum Bookmark was to help HI’s understand the issues with terminations and how to address aged aluminum wiring at the core of it’s issue. Blindly calling it bad does not solve the termination issue and to answer someone else’s question…properly torquing all terminations, copper or aluminum is important and often overlooked.
