Someone cut the brick and mortar to the sides and just over the garage door lintel, and installed what looks to be thin pieces of sheet metal inside the cuts. I’ve never seen this before and have no idea of it’s purpose.
I don’t even have a WAG as to what they are or why they are there.
Any and all coments are welcomed & appreciated.
One clue could be that the brick halves do not seem to match up color-wise, telling me that this likely wasn’t a cut. Unless the lighting is causing the mismatch or something.
Maybe some type of weep for the siding around the lintel? 1st for me too.
Possibly to prevent the cracks in the first photo
Possibly a failed lintel that had to be replaced??? Cut bricks out to do replacement and the re-bricked opening???
