Yes I can save any section,picture ,live link or thought in a series of programs that interact in a scrape book type software.
The software finds things by narrowing down possibilities as I type.
Here is a good trick for searching.
If you need to narrow results put “this” quotes around all words that must be in a result for it to show.That eliminates all the c-ap.Example is “Hot water tank,TPR”
Now the top results should be TPR valves that attach to Hot water tanks.
I have mentioned many of them here ,but most inspectors do not really care about that stuff past copy / paste.
The trick is to experiment to use a combination that matches your thought process.
Some work totally off mind maps,tags,Windows folders,online cloud software,etc.I could go on however for me the key is all about search.
find a way to tag everything so you can find it later.
Self taught so I have no idea if this is redundant or a way to make you see the light but I recommend goggling the term “tree structure files”.
Filing things is exactly like doing a report.
Systems and components are just folders and sub folders.
This type of thought process can be applied to everything.
Computers are just versions of our own minds after all.

I get the links part and understand about your own setup, interact in a scrape book type software.
I have yet to use cloud and should be out making money instead of continuously upgrading my knowledge and tools.
Hard to do when people like you let lose with information and I keep on jamming it into my brain.
Its all for the best and I want to hit the road running because I have a business plan.

I agree and this is engineered to hold the weight. In time though this will sag and will need a corner post. Just like anything acting on that kind of force.
This is the rear of the home and there is lots of space around that rear entry. If no structurally significant rot is discovered, a properly founded/secured treated 6"x6" post would do the trick after the floor was leveled.
My idea of the defect.
The balcony one the main floor ( porch ) was removed because it was rotten.
Mr.Cyr you mention pricing in you interaction with BOB.
When I gave pricing and today to do rebuild of typical porch it would be in excess of 12,000 plus for that small job. Higher I suspect.
They would balk at price and do the walk in it in cement. Quick fix.
So again I am going porch removed and down can the pillar that supported the second story and roof.
My conclusion of you bar theory is that as a lever to hold up also works in reverse.So the loads will be mirrored. If a bottom post were placed there would be no need hanging support with 3/4 bar.
The cantilever effect is sound but to tie into the roof loads perplexes me.

Bob, Marcel what photo program do you use for you reports the one I have takes to long to resize.
When I was on the balcony I was looking more closely at the post and did not see any signs of settlement, could not tell if it was load bearing as Marcel indicated. I think a proper support at the corner to the ground woul;d be an appropriate repair but I will leave that to the SE that I recommended. Nice older home by the way. Except for the red regergitated droppings in the attic that I kneeled in, Glad I had my knee pads on.
David, you can use irfanview to batch resize photos but as an HIPro user, just load the pics into the program and they will resize automatically.
Actually it is to resize to post on the message boards.
Irfanview is what I use but it seems tideous. I guess I could use the temp file on HIP, good idea Mike!!

To answer your other question “Microsoft Power toys” has the best one for XP however the best for the rest is VSO Products catalog Photo Movie conversion burning DVD
They both allow you to right click your selections and convert at lightning speed.
Sure you could use photoscape or any graphic software if time does not matter however.

Why do they finish the 3rd floor when the insulation, ventilation, wiring is all old and not energy efficient?
Gable was completely blocked with insulation, (What is a baffle) roof had little or now venting except for the large openings allowing in the wildlife.
I think the wildlife is smarter than the home owners sometimes.
Is that 3rd floor area used as a bedroom or “rec”/other use room. If used as a bedroom, would the window(s…if another is installed) meet the codes for emergency egress? The one one in the picture seems a bit small (by our Cdn standards). Don’t know what IRC or your local says.
I would say a interior room and not a bed as there is no closet, unless you consider an attic knee wall a closet.
Closet does not make it a bedroom.
Egress and privacy do.Example is they would need a door at the bottom of those steps.
You can always jump out to the sagging balcony.
