my next equipment purchase in the next couple of months will be a gas/CO detector.

What's the best available for the money? I will assume that I will need two seperate units...
Not going to report on testing for gas/CO unless I actually detect anything...this for liability purposes.

Thanks.

TIF 8800A, UEI CO71L. I have found so many gas leaks around water heaters and furnaces since I started using them I’m scared what I missed before. Check on Ebay first.

Kevin, which one do you want, a gas detector or a co detector. I actually use TIF for both, I use the 8800a for the gas detector and (I think) 8500 for the co detector (I don’t remember the #). We (NACHI) have the 8800 available to members through our store.

The TIFF is a nice unit, I have not used it much though. I am hoping to buy a combustible gas detector soon. I actually am leaning to the Bacharach Informant 2, just because it is what we use all the time at my fire department. We also use one of the Monoxors, I think the 3. We usually use each on a daily basis and they hold up pretty good under tough conditions. They are also pretty easy to use, if a firefighter can figure it out, anyone can. icon_biggrin.gif

Do these units have readouts or do they just beep when detected? I’m not sure I want one that just beeps…it could be beeping at any level of CO. Now a gas detector, that beeping only would be ok.
