Gerry,

You bet! I am working with this guy to start selling them to our members at a fixed price. I just received one of the two I bought today. Works good. It has the auto zero function which is great especially after owning those stupid a$$ snifits.

He is also checking with his supplier for other items we may use. I hope all works out well for both of us. He asked me what items would we be interested in purchasing so I sent him to the Professional Equipment web site.

I will talk to him soon I am sure.

BTW....like he said they are brand new. They come in a blister pack. Just for the sake of clarity they are made in China and come with a one year warranty. He provides the warranty service from CA. I have him checking on the calibration of these models. The instructions state they are good for 3 years and he most likely would be able to do the calibration.

Try not to drive the price up too high on EBAY becasue he stated he would be willing to sell them directly to our members.

I recently purchased the TIF 8800A tester, but I am hearing that this tester does not detect CO. And that it is a gas detector only. Is this true?

Also, I would like to learn more on how these tools should be used and on what. Is there a CO course or reading material that I should know about?

Thanks,

David,

The Tiff 8800 or 8800a do detect CO gas but only at levels above 2,000 ppm which makes them worthless as a CO detector. They are gas specific meaning they are meant for Methane gas, not that they won't detect other gases or combustionables but that is not want they are made for.

If you are interested in purchasing an inexpensive CO detector they had a few UEI CO detectors on ebay for a good price. According to Gerry he purchased one and is pretty happy with it.

They also have the detector that I purchased from a dude in CA under the brand name CEM. While they are made overseas I like it and I am very happy with it. I believe this guy is offering them to our members at a set price if you are interested in purchasing one. You could probably pick one up at around one third of the price for the newer ones on the market.

If you are considering a BACHARACH let me price it for you. They gave NACHI a special pricing account as they are headquartered in my old town, Fox Chapel, PA.

I had been bidding on a Bacharach Monoxor II CO detector on Ebay. However, Two other people got into a bidding war icon_rolleyes.gif and it ended going for $250. More than I was willing to pay for a used model.
