Big issues with inspection

Sad that Washington does not have mandatory insurance requirements. As per the OP’s initial description this is an example of an Inspector running amok causing serious damage to a consumer. A couple of items to note from the contract language the OP posted.

This is either ignorance or deception since Washington does have their own SOP and other important requirements. I would suspect the Washington SOP and requirements are greater/more implicit than INACHI’s. Instead of pointing the consumer to that they point them to INACHI’s SOP.

Translated that states “We will visit the home, walk around, and do what we wish and you agree not to chase us down when we spend 15 minutes inside and outside. However we will collect our fee and you will be free to live with the horror for however long you own the home.”

So if they advertise they are a CMI and completely FUBAR the inspection and report the consumer can not use this in their case unless they want to fight it in Colorado as well.

If the issues are all as the OP stated INACHI should not only eject the member but pull all certifications from them and support this consumer in obtaining redress from the Inspector.

I totally agree with that.

That’s a huge IF Manny. The op has posted no factual information about the alleged inspector, just her word. She could have taken the SOP from the InterNACHI website.
I’m really surprised you of all people are being duped by her accusatrions. There have been no facts proven whatsoever. This thread should never have gotten past the first few posts. Maybe now my posts make a bit more sense.

Not only him. Nothing surprise me anymore though, especially after witnessing numerous inspectors protecting with some backhoe/ dump truck operator here who was criticizing home inspectors. Some of these protective inspectors got business/favors from that operator which leads me to believe that perhaps some favors was received from this Kelly Vacation Rentals…

Nothing wrong with favors if they are of the right kind, just saying.

Not being duped by her accusations. I see this type poor performance by Home Inspectors quite frequently and the OP’s claims are reasonable to believe. After all how many really hosed posts have we seen here on this BB by so called experienced CMI’s? Quite a few actually.

The OP is looking for advice on how to handle a situation and so far has been pounded without reason really. We can’t expect the OP or any other consumer to come here and spill their guts with intimate details just to ask for directions on how to proceed.

Marcel what you are claiming is something Jeffrey has complained about about that you have assumed that “There have been no facts proven whatsoever”. What favors would you expect a Texas Inspector to receive from a Washington State consumer?

As for the OP “criticizing home inspectors” I do not see where the OP did that. Instead the OP is very angry about one specific Inspector. As a matter of fact the OP has made this statement above.

How does that equate to your generic, all encompassing statement of the following?

Sorry Manny, this was an all out attack piece, and there is only ONE question in that entire attack, and it wasn’t asking for directions on how to proceed!

Actually you highlighted the important question that the OP asked if they have any recourse. What difference is between that and “asking for directions on how to proceed” other than the wording of the question?

The fact she went out of her way and took 30+ sentences to attack an unknown inspector on an open, public forum, instead of the only two necessary… “I had a bad inspection. Who can I complain to?” Her faux concern question about ‘Recourse’ was already answered by HER realtor. IMO, a legit person would have gone directly to the “Contact Us” of this Organization and NOT the public forums!! May she reap what she sows!!

You know…I tried deleting this thread since apparently I posted it in the wrong space. I guess I shouldnt have posted at all. I am simply a mom who used the little bit of inheritance I got to purchase a couple houses. I have never ever had an issue like this and I am stressed to the max. We went from wanting to put $15000 into upgrades to realizing the home had massive massive problems that are equaling upwards of $45000.
I am not a scammer I have not paid anyone for favors. I am not some crazy lady who owns massive amounts of property and is money hungry. I’m dumping the absolute last of my savings into this house and who knows if that will even be enough.
I dont appreciate being called names and accusations being made against me. You should all be ashamed of yourselves (those that did make accusations) I am a young lady trying to figure out if I have some sort of way to get help for a shitty situation. Maybe look at yourselves before making accusations. I wish I could just delete this post but the website wont allow me to. I was looking for honest help for a crappy situation. Guess I looked in the wrong place.
Thanks for adding to the stress of the situation.

I had no idea where to post…for your information, I thought I was posting to the people who run internachi not a whole bunch of inspectors. I though it was a forum where internachi officials answered questions about inspections from people of the public.

Call your Attorney and file suit against your Inspector. If you are legit, a court will see in your favor. If not, well…

As stated, I thought I was writing to internachi officials…if I wanted to attack, dont you think I’d spread his name all over the post? But I didnt I’m trying to keep information private I was looking to write to internachi itself but apparently I posted in a public group of inspectors

Uh… Okay…

Yes you are and well done. I hope you can get your situation resolved. Sorry for the poor inspection. There are some inspectors that rush through inspections so they have high numbers. Those guys get what they deserve.

Okay… since you indicate you have no money, contact the WA DOL and file a complaint for FREE: https://www.dol.wa.gov/business/homeinspectors/hicomplaint.html

It always amazes me when inspectors “circle the wagons” immediately and accuse the civilian home buyer of something improper.

Reading the smattering of horse$shit questions here should let you know how many unqualified inspectors are out in the field. And it’s getting worse every year, not better.

Simply direct the poster to the appropriate resources (if you know) and leave all the snarky, judgmental accusations for another time.
