Buttons on the ceiling?

Inspecting a new build today and what are these little buttons on the ceiling. They are about the size of a quarter and only in two rooms.
In this room, they stick out just slightly and the other room they are set in just slightly. Any ideas?

Are they thumb tacks?

Those are nail pops.

Almost always wiring rough-ins for something.

Maybe?

I concur.
They might even be fasteners installed prior the wall board being permanently secured. At times several fasteners can be used to hold the wall board in place prior cutting holes for penetration’s or protrusions.
Just my 2 cents.

Right, speaker wire? Alarm? Intercom? etc.

I also like @tglaze button temp sensor, but the ceiling is an odd placement.

I’m with Kevin. Definitely look like nail pops.

The OP said the buttons were the size of a quarter, nail pops are not that big.

Maybe the used “beginner” nails

That’s what I was thinking, beginner nails that were installed with something besides a beginner hammer.

Come on, guys, you’ve never seen the button caps where the low voltage wires were placed on these new homes?

Maybe its just a Florida thing… :grinning:
I see these all the time on new builds

Never. Not a thing in my area. As Daniel said maybe it’s a Florida thing. It looks kind of sloppy from here.

Same with here in Michigan.

Same in MN.

Here’s one version, not a great pic on their site, but you get the idea.

I’ve never seen them in my area, normally they’ll leave the wires hanging out of the wall or ceiling or they’ll be in a J box with a cover over it.

Ditto in the other part of Minnesota!
