Cold spots that leave stains on ceiling

FLIR2318.jpg

FLIR2319.jpgI have noticed several homes that have what I would call gaps in the insulation that show up as blue on the thermal camera and as stains on the ceiling. These areas have elevated moisture usually 9%-14%. What is going on here? Is this a defect or just a gap in the insulation that by its very nature will have some condensation creating a stain.

Elevated compared to what?

1/10 of a degree can cause this to show up

That’s what I see too.

It does not take much of a temp differential to create ghosting, especially when candles are in use.

Thanks for the input! This is what I thought and it appears that I really don’t have much to worry about it. I downloaded the article and am going to include it in my reports as supplemental information when needed.
