This condensate line was pumping water into the furnace flue (which was made of pvc. Is this configuration of pipe correct? It doesn’t look like the water would make it. The p-trap for the line was leaking water as well. Any comments are appreciated!

Some of the earlier condensing furnaces had two condensate drains. One we usually see coming from the side of the furnace and one coming from the exhaust. It appears you have one of these furnaces that also has a drain on the exhaust. The intention was to divert some of the water in the exhaust pipe from the furnace to a drain instead of running it through the furnace.
The water pumped from the condensate pump is usually connected to the pump on a barbed fitting with a hose clamp. This would be done with a flexible material like a clear vinyl hose. In the picture I don't see any such hose that would remove the water from the pump
Do you have a better picture of the pump? Was there a short (2 inch) fitting on the pump that was not being used?
