Condensate Neutralizer

Had a condensate neutralizer tube installed for a water heater in the vertical position, pointed in the upward position. I read where some brands are required to be installed pitching downward toward the outlet. Any thoughts?

You should install the device in accordance with the manufacturer’s specific instructions.

They are labeled for orientation. All the ones that I have seen place the outlet above the inlet. Half the ones that I’ve seen are installed upside down. Here’s a hint: if the print on the cartridge is upside down, the cartridge is upside down. The manufacturer’s installation instructions will have specifications for orientation, piping and bypass configuration.

This one is installed upside down
