Corrosion at PEX shut-off valves

Most of this is caused by chemicals and cleaners stored under the sink.



Without plumbers the world would have more crap to deal with.

I’ve seen that a lot too. usually in the cupboard and vanity it’s because no plumbers putty was used under the faucet and while operating faucet with wet hands etc. water follows the supply lines and corrodes the only thing that will corrode. the toilet could be from bowl sweat. (I SAID BOWL…) Also running down the supply line. follow lines up and see if mounting nuts on faucets are rotting too. check for active leak.

I see it often as we have a good deal of Pex around here. I note it for repair if I find active leakage, and to be monitored if it is only corrosion with no leak found.
