White corrosion at water heater shut-off?

I’m used to seeing the green stuff. Any ideas?

Minor leaks Kenton…ooozzzzzing…

If it was my house I would try tightening the packing nut by the handle…or just replace the thing…if that didn’t work…

Corrosion, calcium mineral deposits I believe. ,

We call it scabbing over as Dale said dripping water. I would suspect that the water is very hard

Well yeah, it’s definitely a leak, sometimes corrosion seals them if they’re minor. I guess when they leak that slowly the chemical process is different. Usually they’re slimy green.

I like to poke at them a little, to see if it really is a leak…

Then all hell breaks loose…

Hope all is well up there Kenton…!!!..and the SNOW is gone…

Yeah, kind like holding an armadillo up by his tail, then looking a little closer to see what’s that thing puckering at the base of his tail? #-o Oh… bad news!

OMG…

Still snow above 6500 ft., peaks are pretty well covered.

Yep, most of us’ll take the burst pipe.
