Dryer vent assist

Don’t let your minds logic over ride the facts…

Work with me here…

If the unit was standing on the four rubber feet/spacers (bottom of unit), The flow would enter the unit at the top, and exit out the side. This is the direction that the arrows indicate, and also the diagram in Mikes post. The way it is set-up in your photos, the flow is exiting towards the dryer.

Take a step back, take a deep breath…

:D:D:D

Don’t wish to argue, as you were there, and they are your photo’s… but… that’s not how I see it in your photo #2

Fan must be mounted a minimum of 15 feet from the dryer outlet.
I**f the fan is mounted closer than the recommended 15 feet, it may
develop enough pressure to lift wet lint into the fan impeller **resulting
in excessive lint loading in the fan. (Exception: If a secondary lint filter
is installed between the dryer and the booster fan, the booster fan
may be mounted within the minimum distance otherwise recommended
(See illustration to left). The best location for the fan to be mounted,
in any application, is as close as possible to the termination of the
duct work. In order to perform recommended maintenance, fan location
should allow sufficient access for service.

NIce Bob!

Got a link I can pass on?

That is true for the Fantech units that look like Radon fans.

It’s all good, Jeff.

I think my description was confusing and the diagram did not help.

Now that I’ve stepped back

See if this jibes. (I opend a new window to see the pics along side this description)

Pic 1 -
The dryer is in the direction of the open door (coming into the top of the unit)
Exhaust is up and heading to the left (behind I beam)

Pic 2 - Close up where the door is to the right from this perspective.

Pic 3 - The door is to the left of this pic (this is the opposite side of the close up in pic 2)
Exhaust would be going over your head from this perspective.

Gotcha…
It is also deceiving as in picture #3 it looks as if the vent is going through the floor… optical illusion…
Glad it’s all good…
:D:D:D

Glad we got that all cleared up.

I was about to call linus and have him straighten out Rick.

I know of at least one jurisdiction that does not allow them!

Funny…

I was just about to give Rick a call, when he posted the additional info

Same link as Mikes but check install manuals at bottom .

Did anyone notice that their diagram shows the dryer vent connections inside out (i.e., flowing from full diameter toward the crimp)? If that’s the way it’s actually configured, the dryer vent itself would have to be non-code compliant (IRC M1502.5 “with joints running in the direction of airflow…”)

Is this thing supposed to be a vent booster or a lint trap?
