4 inch duct, male ends in the direction of airflow, 16 feet long with 2 90 degree bends to get it within 4 inches of a box vent in the roof. Could have made it to the soffit area with the same travel and bends...

wrote it up as "UGLY". ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

“close” only counts for horseshoes and hand grenades

It is pretty close though. I would have recommended repair.

Mike…

Unless your clients really like the look of lint on roof shingles, I think you should recommend the re-route to a proper damper in the soffit.

Just kidding about the “UGLY”. I wrote it up as follows;

"Dryer vented into the open space within the attic, Recommend a licensed contractor properly re-route the duct to the buildings exterior"

The buyer was in the attic with me (works in Civil Engineering at the AF Base) laughing at it. He stated that he was going to route it to the soffit and patch (from below) the hole beneath the box vent...

Oh yeah, and the 'strap' you see blurred in the foreground was "holding up" the horizontal run of the duct. It really was kinda funny to see...
